About me

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be My disciples. As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Abide in My love.”

— John 15:4-9

The definition of "abide"—meno—is to endure without yielding, remain; to accept (without objection) or act in accordance with. A "culture" is a set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization. In John 15, Jesus exhorts us to “Abide in My love.”

“Whoever says he abides in God ought to walk in the same way in which Jesus walked.”
— 1 John 2:6

'Abide Culture Coffee Roasters' started as a dream. Long hours conversing around our second-hand wooden kitchen table; discussions while sitting upon our fraying living room couch late into the night. Backyard research and conversations underneath a wisteria-covered pergola, laden with fragrant flowering peapods. Classical education approach: hands-on learning and teaching; trial and error. Sacrifice. Hard work. Continual prayer combined with mustard seed faith: these attributes propel us forward. A small, shed shell has been transformed into a usable workspace—our roastery—which we lovingly call "The Roasting Shed".
